Goliad ISD

Preserving the past, preparing the future

Book Club

A group of students and teachers pose together in a library setting.

Teachers in charge: Sharon Howard at SHoward@goliadisd.org and Jennifer Hurta at JHurta@goliadisd.org

What to Expect

GHS Book Club does not have bylaws or officers. It is sponsored by District Librarian Mrs. Howard, and Library Media/Tech Aide Mrs. Hurta.

Any high school student who loves books and reading (and even those who don't) is invited to join us on a weekly basis provided they have permission from their parent or guardian.

Throughout the year, we will read several books as a group. Some of these titles are decided upon by Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Hurta and some titles are suggested by the students. All titles are approved by Mr. Henke.

We discuss the books we're reading as a group and also other books that we might be reading individually.

We attend Teen Bookfest on the Bay held in Corpus Christi during the Spring Semester. We will also occasionally have a fundraiser to help pay for group books and travel expenses.
