Tigerettes headed to state semifinals

The Goliad Tigerettes volleyball team’s win over Columbus earned them a spot in the state semifinals next week.

The Tigerettes captured the Region IV Class 3A Division I championship Thursday night with a four-set win over the Columbus Lady Cardinals in Cuero.

The Tigerettes, which improved to 40-5, beat Columbus 25-20, 25-12, 21-25, 25-14 and will face the Grandview-Franklin winner in the state semifinals in Hutto.

Addison Yendrey recorded 19 kills and nine blocks, while Isabel Sanchez posted 38 assists, six kills, four blocks, and 16 digs.

Sophia Wallek tallied seven kills, Kinlee Weiser had five kills and three blocks, and Ryleigh Glass recorded 11 digs. Karolynn Youngblood had 24 digs, while Maevyn Wunsch finished with seven kills and 15 digs.
