Cross country runners take top spots in Beeville competition

It was nearly a clean sweep for the Goliad high School Tigers at the District 29-AAA XC Meet this week.

“They all did an outstanding job today,” said Coach Tim Knetl following Thursday’s meet at Beeville Veterans Park. “Both varsity teams advanced to the Regional meet.”

  • District Champ Varsity Girls led by Ashtyn Franke, 2nd place; Daryn Schutz, 8th place; Julia Aleman, 10th place; and Lily Knetl, 11th place; Helen Cowan, 12th place, Taryn Franke, 13th place; and Haley Clapsaddle, 25th place.
  • District Runner Up Varsity Boys led by Gabriel Aguilar, second place; Austin Niemeyer, fifth place; Clayton Schendel, 6th place; Wyatt Ball, 12th place; Kale Ortman, 16th place; Jeremiah Nicely, 17th place; and Reese Mangum, 19th place. 
  • District Champ JV Girls led by Natalie Lil, second place; Olivia Strouhal, third place; Kaylin Buenger, sixth place; Hayle Russell, seventh place; Lila Hamilton, eighth place; Madison Matulla, 11th place; and Grace Hoffer, 15th place.
  • District Champ JV Boys led by Grant Windham, second place; Brian Dougherty, third place; Koltyn Russell, fourth place; Jack Smith, sixth place; Tracer Schendel, seventh place; and Kris Camarillo, eight place.

Next stop for the team is the UIL Regional Meet Oct 23 in Corpus Christi.
