Williams selects father as Shining Star

Editor’s note: On Thursday, the top seven students selected teachers that helped them become their best person. These teachers are known as Shining Stars.

Hunter Williams on why his dad, and teacher, Douglas Williams is his Shining Star.

“Douglas Williams was not only my teacher, but he also doubles as my dad. As a teacher, he made a great impact by encouraging me to try my best in class, and he also taught me that hard work pays off. 

• Outside of school, he is my dad and is responsible for raising me, so I owe him everything.
• He encouraged me to do all of my homework from a young age and to try my best on every assignment.
• This is probably why I have done so well in school.”
