Goliad Varsity Tigers won big Tuesday evening over the Mathis Pirates 13-1.
Goliad opened up scoring in the first inning. Kolton Duval drove in one when Duval singled.
Goliad scored five runs in the sixth inning. Jacob Guerrero, Leighton Wunsch and Ty Marek powered the big inning with RBIs.
Phin Wallek led things off on the mound for the Tigers. The righty lasted four innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking zero.
Goliad tallied 11 hits as Colby Rosenquest, Duval and Ryder Reyes each racked up multiple hits for the Tigers. Rosenquest went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Goliad in hits.
The Tigers capped off district play going 7-3 and finished with an overall 13-13 record.
Locking in the third seed the other night, the Tigers will play either Banquete or SGA for their first round matchup.
They will host Nixon-Smiley Friday evening at 7 p.m. for a warmup game.
