Tigers clinch playoff spot with win over Aransas Pass

Goliad Tigers bring out some nostalgia Tuesday and get back into the win column over Aransas Pass 8-1.

In the second inning, the Tigers got their offense started when Homer Guiterrez induced Leighton Wunsch to hit into a fielder's choice, plating a run for Goliad.

Goliad put up four runs in the sixth inning when Aramis Garza, Phin Wallek and Andrew Alonzo all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Wallek got the win for Goliad Varsity Tigers. The righty allowed one hit and one run over four and a third innings, striking out five.  Alonzo threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Tigers racked up seven hits on the day. Colby Rosenquest, Barrett Garcia, and Garza each managed multiple hits for Goliad.

With the win Goliad clinches a playoff spot for the second year in a row. The Tigers currently sit at third in district standings with two games to go on the year.
