Goliad Tigerettes Varsity nabbed the lead late in the game in a 7-5 victory over Taft on Tuesday.
The game was tied at five with the Tigerettes batting in the bottom of the fifth when Mady Kramer doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Goliad Tigerettes Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Taft to score three runs in the third inning. Taft's big inning was driven by a walk by Jaylynn Leal and a single by Bianca Gonzales.
In the first inning, Goliad Tigerettes Varsity got their offense started. Kieyah Garcia grounded out, scoring one run.
Morgan Young led things off on the rubber for the Tigerettes. The righthander surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out three.
Gonzales was in the pitcher's circle for Taft. Gonzales lasted six innings, allowing ten hits and seven runs while striking out five.
Goliad collected 10 hits. Addison Brock, Kramer, Daryn Schutz all had multiple hits for the team. Brock led them with three hits in three at bats.
