Tigers earn win over Aransas Pass

Goliad Varsity Tigers cruised to a victory over Aransas Pass 10-2 on Friday.

The Tigers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kolton Duval singled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run.

Goliad put up four runs in the second inning.  Phin Wallek, Colby Rosenquest, Barrett Garcia, and Leighton Wunsch all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Rosenquest led things off on the mound for Goliad Tigers. The righthander allowed three hits and two runs over 3-2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Goliad collected 10 hits on the day. Rosenquest, Andrew Alonzo, Aramis Garza, and Kamdyn Janak each collected multiple hits for the Tigers. Janak, Garza, Alonzo and Rosenquest each collected two hits to lead Goliad. Garza led Goliad with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 14 stolen bases. 

“Thank you to all those who attended that night’s game to for Little League appreciation Night,” added coach Anthony Quintannilla. “It was a great success and lots of fun to have all those future Tigers out there this evening.”

The Tigers move to 2-1 in district play and will be at home all this week.

“I hope everyone can come out and join us for teacher/staff appreciation night on Monday (today) and then Military appreciation night on Thursday,” the coach said.
