Reyes signs to play football for Southwestern University

JP Reyes made his commitment to play football for the Southwestern University Pirates Wednesday during a ceremony in the Goliad Event Center.

Reyes began his high school football career at San Antonio Cole, where his father, John, was the head football coach.

He returned to Goliad as a junior. He missed his junior season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

As a senior he threw for 1,429 yards and 14 touchdowns while running for 270 yards with six rushing touchdowns. He was selected as unanimously as first team all district utility player, nominated for the Whataburger Super team and a finalist for the 2 Words Student Athlete of the Year.

He was a Victoria Advocate Honorable mention all-area, Varsity Cup Nominee, voted team captain and voted team MVP. He is Academic All District and 2nd Team Academic All State.
