Tigers bombard Badgers in last non district contest
Karnes City Varsity Badgers scored three runs in the sixth inning during Monday’s last non district game, but Goliad’s offense onslaught was too much for a 18-3 win.
The Tigers fired up the offense in the second inning. Jacob Guerrero singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Goliad put up nine runs in the seventh inning. Colby Rosenquest, Barrett Garcia, Kolton Duval all drove in runs in the frame.
Phin Wallek pitched a complete game for the Tigers. As the righty surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.
The Tigers racked up 12 hits in the game. Rosenquest, Garcia, Guerrero, and Ryder Reyes all managed multiple hits for the night. Rosenquest led Goliad with three hits in five at bats. Wallek led the Tigers with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
Goliad JV nabs win over the Badgers
Despite allowing three runs in the fifth inning, Goliad JV defeated Karnes City Jv 11-3 on Monday.
The Tigers got on the board in the first inning when Tatum Johnson drove in a run off a double to left field.
Dasen Anderson led things off on the pitcher's mound for Goliad. The hurler lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out five and walking one.
Jakob Boyd would come in the game and smack a triple driving in a run for the Tigers.
Goliad JV Tigers snagged an in the park home run on the day. Kolton Russell raced around the bags for the in the park homer!
Conner Maroney led the Tigers with two hits in two at bats.
Goliad wins slugfest against Cuero
The tigers won their game against Cuero March 14, 6-4.
Goliad got on the board in the first inning when the Tigers scored on a stolen base during Barrett Garcia's at bat. Then Garcia singled, driving in one.
Phin Wallek earned the win for Goliad.
Wallek allowed seven hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one.
Leighton Wunsch threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Wunsch recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for the Tigers.
The Tigers tallied 13 hits in the game. Colby Rosenquest, Garcia, Wallek, Aramis Garza, Kolton Duval, and Ryder Reyes all collected multiple hits for Goliad. Reyes, Duval, Garza, Wallek, Garcia, and Rosenquest each collected two hits to lead all Tiger sluggers on the night.
