Goliad cheerleaders are planning a Mini Cheer Camp from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 30 inside the old high school gym.
Cost to enroll is $25 with applications and fees due Sept. 26. Money and the attached form can be turned into the Goliad Elementary School front office.
“This is an opportunity for anyone from the Kindergarten through fifth grade to learn from the girls they look up to on Friday nights,” said Zara Brown, who heads the cheerleading program at the high school. “They will learn basic cheer moves that include cheer, chant and dance.
In October, these cheerleaders will perform for the fans during the varsity game against Edna.
“They will have the opportunity to showcase those moves in front of the Tiger fans, Friday Oct. 21,” Brown said. “I think that mini cheer camp is good for not only the young ones, but also the high school girls as well.
“It shows them that they are more than just a ‘cheerleader.’ They are role models as well, and the younger girls cling to every move they make.”
